Karen Lillis, more popularly known as Karen the Small Press Librarian, is putting her own twist on what constitutes a viable space to showcase & sell books. The idea started as one wire rack – but has since expanded to two – filled with small press books from around the country.
Armed with these materials, Karen ‘pop ups’ at different city/literary events and relies heavily on “the twin powers of the Face Out and the Hand Sell.”
You can read more about her book-selling adventures in this recent interview. But before you do that, we encourage you to play a new game Karen has come up with called Small Press Roulette.

Small Press Pittsburgh has been showcasing Pittsburgh’s literary scene since 2008. We have existed primarily as a web directory and Facebook announcement page, and we are currently exploring new ways to support and engage Pittsburgh’s emerging authors and literary institutions.
