Chuck Close Jacquard Tapestry :: Art Basel 2009
This giant self-portrait of Chuck Close is not a painting…

but a tapestry with over 500 colors woven on a Jacquard loom in Berlin, Germany…

and purchased in Art Basel 2009 Miami [Scope Art Fair] for $120,000.

It could be argued using the transitive property
that this is a case of AOE- Art Over Everything
as opposed to the more traditional and widely accepted
MOE- Money Over Everything. Or maybe not.

Our first date in Paris was a Close show (class assignment I think, still have ticket stub). Huge blown up destroyed cigarettes, spilling leaf shreds bigger than my head. And many self-portraits. Didn’t see any tapestries.
I think there is a biggun in the Art Institute? Beard hair all out of focus and tube-like?
