  • Horseshoe crabs are older than dinosaurs. Their blood is blue and used for medicine.
  • Driver ants are the largest ants in the world. They are used in parts of Africa as stitches.
  • They make itching powder out of tarantula hairs. Tarantulas have eight eyes but only see shadows and movements.
  • Monarch butterflies are poisonous because as caterpillars they eat Milkweed, which is poisonous.
  • We’ve all been bitten by the deadliest insect: mosquitoes. They spread malaria.
  • The strongest insect in the world is the Atlas Beetle.
  • The deadliest scorpion in the world is in Egypt. Get bitten and you have 20 minutes.
  • All toads are poisonous. You DO NOT get warts from toads.
  • The Pacman frog has teeth. They bite. They also can’t swim.
  • Alligator Snapping turtles can get up to 200 lbs. They are endangered. You will get fined up to $2,000 if you’re caught with one, but they can be found in Texas.
  • Mississippi Mud is smallest turtle in the world. They live 20 years and are very secretive.
  • Snakes do not have ears. They’re deaf.
  • Rule of thumb around snakes: Red touches black, friend of jack. Red touches yellow, you’re a dead fellow.
  • The heaviest snake in the world is the green anaconda – 300 lbs.
  • The longest snake in the world is the reticulated python – 32 ft.
