Flash Fiction Friday :: Everlasting Fog

Allen Butler

Everlasting Fog

I try to look into my mind: I see void. A blanket draped over me that eyes cannot penetrate. I step forward, hoping to break through the mist and see – I find nothing. A fog has fallen over me and I am lost.

How did I get here? Where am I going? Who am I talking to? Is there anybody here?

I feel so alone.

Voices – I hear them: whispering, chattering. Who are they? Where are they?

Everything is questions. What do I know?

Light! Is that light?

It’s growing brighter. Bigger. It’s overtaking me. Consuming me. I become one with the light.

It’s gone. I’m in the fog again.

You there! Can you help me?
