This past weekend, the city I live in was again transformed into the mecca of art in North America for Art Basel 2009. Herocious and I have tons to post about from Basel’s various fairs and exhibits, but I’d like to start off with something that was happening apart from the convention center, the museums, the galleries, the shipping containeirs, and the tents. I’d like to introduce you to the most recent beautification project in Miami’s outer space- specifically, the streets. No, roads were not repaved. Gardens were not planted. Nothing was even any cleaner, really.
Instead, Os Gemeos graced the dingy, dilapidated streets of Wynwood with the playful vibrancy of their work. Their cast of characters that I’ve admired in foreign photos and long wished to meet in person now resides on a wall just a few miles from my door! I am thankful. I can now proudly present my own photos to share with others on opposite ends of the globe.
Here is the mural, located on NW 2nd Avenue, near NW 27th street in Miami.
