“Oye, esto es pa’ que …
veas que yo tambien …
escribo cosas bonitas”Hey, this is so that
you see that I also
y con un fricase de acerola,I want to cover your hair with kisses
working my way from your ear to your navel
and tickle you a little
and bring you clams in bed
and then go flying to Neptune.
If it’s cold, I’ll warm you up with poppy soup
and cherries for dessert.

un masajito con sabor a menta,You’re as sweet as a honeycomb,
like fresh fruit.
Your face is so picturesque
with infinite colors in your look.
I get butterflies when I look at you.
Let’s walk slowly, following the footsteps
across a path of stars–
a path with perfect weather.
Give me a smile that smells like the wind.
You’re my heart’s vitamins, my fiber.
You are what keeps me stable,
in balance; you complete me
(like) a massage with mint oil.
tu me hicistes brujeria, bruja
enrollaito usando el mismo abrigo,You possess…something that shines,
something that stands out.
I want you to give me
30 carnivals, 400 stories, and
a box to store precious memories.
Let’s blow bubbles in our coffee,
have 100 kids, and leave clichés
for another day.
You’ve bewitched me, sorceress.
Let’s go to Cuba and
jetski in the Antilles at 100 miles an hour.
Let’s make a pact without going to the chapel,
just plant some wheat with the moon as witness,
both wrapped in the same coat.

in motion
a living tree, a powerful goddess.
You rhyme.
You combine with me.
If I stick my thumb in my mouth
and blow up like a balloon,
we’ll land in a locust tree.
Let’s go–time is as precious as gold.
The night is calling us.
The ocean will accompany us.
My legs will become as soft as cotton
Because it feels so great to be with you.Quiero caminar por encima de tu pelo,

Un Beso De Desayuno – Calle 13
January 13, 2009
Atrévete te-te – Calle 13
Puerto Rican step-brothers, Residente and Visitante, are no strangers to accolades. Together their revolutionary group, Calle 13, has two records and five Grammys.
I had the pleasure of hearing them for the first time during a commercial break in one of the 2006 World Cup matches, when I changed the channel to Mun2 – mundos, like worlds, get it? – and saw a row of women dressed in identical white outfits dancing in perfect tempo to the 4/4 time of Cumbia.
Immediately the Colombian in me took to the tune, Cumbia having originated on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, where I lived during my youth. When the song credits appeared near the end of the video, I learned that the women in white had been dancing to Atrévete te-te. Although I knew that I did not understand the meaning of the song, Residente’s lewd voice embedded in Visitante’s traditional beats hypnotized me into becoming what I am today: a die-hard Calle 13 fan.
In this smash hit, Residente not only flows with such practical rhymes as “mojan el arroz con un poco de aguacate/pa’ cosechar nalgas de 14 quilates”, which translates into English as “they wet their rice with a bit of avocado/to grow 14 karat asses”, but he also takes on the role of director for its internationally famous video.

Uncover yourself, take away the nail polish
Stop covering yourself, nobody is gonna take your picture
