BBC news reported today that Henry Allingham has passed the ghost. Born in 1896, his eyes saw three centuries of life on earth. Of WWI, Mr Allingham had this to say:
I saw too many things I would like to forget but I never will forget them, I never can forget them.
A great trove of historic wisdom, Mr Allingham serves as a reminder to document all that you can about your ancestors. They have lived through times that are running short on primary witnesses.
Lucky for us, you can buy Henry Allingham’s biography here.
