These photos of a truck-eating pothole were snapped by Kurt Schmielau at the corner of Belsy Court and Wabansia Street in Chicago a few days ago. Chicago is receiving $86 million from the federal stimulus package which will go in part towards repaving craters like these.

What would Chicago be without some of the world’s biggest potholes and freeway construction? It’s kept some people employed (including some politicians) for generations. The stimulus $$ for some of those guys is like winning the lottery.
There’s one stretch near me where I’m convinced they patch with plaster of Paris or something since it’s inevitably re-cratered within a week every time.
Plaster of Paris. Perfect analogy. Yeah, I remember it well. Of course, there’s the weather, but when I lived there, there were certain roads and freeways that were permanently under construction and it got to the point where you always knew where the potholes would be. Good times.
for hardly being able to type. .because i’m laughing sooo hard.
i truly understand this is really not funny.
Though my reason for understanding is having been through the exact same situation. Only for the transmission to completely drop out of the car i was driving at the time.
So it’s at least a little funny. .
Oddly enough, I remember San Diego as having some massive potholes as well, so it can’t be all weather. Lots of unhappy lowriders in that city.
