What if just knowing what a word meant could help feed hungry people around the world? Well, at FreeRice it does . . . the totals have grown exponentially.

I’d like to introduce you to one of the best ways to spend time on the Internet. No registration required.
It’s called Free Rice. You choose the subject: SAT/GRE vocabulary, paintings, French, chemistry, geography, etc. The site presents you with one multiple choice question at a time.
But get this: For every correct answer, 10 grains of rice will be donated through the UN World Food Program!
To date, over 59.5 billion grains of rice have been donated this way.
So, what are you waiting for? Choose your topic, try one question, & fight world hunger….. www.freerice.com

i got up to 2,000! woo. they have an awesome section just for identifying old masters artwork instead of the definition… it’s addictive!
That was really fun! My son and I played together and really enjoyed it! He was quite good! It was wonderful knowing it was for a good cause too. Thanks Bridget!
Another great charity site is AIDtoCHILDREN.com. It donates money to children in need through World Vision.
Check it out at http://www.aidtochildren.com
Brain, thanks for mentioning AIDtoCHILDREN. I noticed that the words tested on that site are suitable for children. That’s great- kids can help other kids in need in a way that’s fun & educational!
Also, I like the variety of ways to contribute to others on thehungersite. It’s a great portal to get people started who might not know how they can help.
