Clipping cut from the September 19th, 1946 issue of Grosse Pointe News:
Sunday night Park Patrolman Slusser and A. Boone found evidence of burglary at the Berry home at 15816 Lakeview Court. The house is on their watch list and a careful examination was made of the premises.
So far as could be determined actual entry had not been made, but marks of jimmying on the back door and kitchen window were plentiful.
The theory is that the officers pulled up for their routine examination of a property on their special watch list and arrived just in time to scare the intended burglars away.
Was this the preemptive work of patrolmen or simply bored patrolmen creating their own excitement? Whatever the case, I think everyone’s home should be on the watch list.
