A composition that improbably conjures for me the twin images of Elvis Presley slouching in the backseat of a two-tone Ford, and a prisoner madly dashing to freedom through the riparian tangle of a muddy river bank, all set to a bouncing, polyrhythmic, Bumps Blackwell-inspired roll. The original working title was “Elvis In Africa.”
