Morning Glory clouds are not completely understood. There are plenty of theories out there, but none have passed the rigors of the scientific method. Although they occur most frequently in northern Australia, across the Gulf of Carpentaria, they have also been spotted in other parts of the world. But Australia will always be the spot, in particular, Burketown, where – from September to October – the clouds are pretty much commonplace. Gliders from around the world visit the remote town, coining the phrase, “surf the glory”.
