Is it a waste of energy to burn candles in your bedroom
when you’re in your living room?
Or is it simply wasteful to keep candles going when you aren’t around to benefit from their light?
At the very least, it’s imprudent to burn candles in your bedroom when you’re in your living room.
Fire is, after all, fire.
Fire is one of the classical elements. Fire is what is constantly happening on our sun. Fire gives us light, daytime, seasons. Fire is what gets us through winter. Fire cooks our food. Fire melts our metal, our glass. Fire burns our paper, burns our wood. Fire destroys our forests, destroys our neighborhoods. Fire helps get over loss. We burn funeral pyres to help sacredly lay a memory to sleep in our minds and in our hearts. Fire is the lullaby that puts our deceased dormant deep inside the cave of our souls.
But I’m off track already. My original question was, “Is it a waste of energy to burn candles in your bedroom when you’re in your living room?”
A waste in the same way that it’s a waste to leave the light on after you leave?
