That was the one, used to be next to Pepe’s Fresh Mexican, across from none other than Pockets. They moved in when Mr. G closed. They still have their good salsa; potatoes have probably gone up a bit.

Mr G’s was a terrible grocery store, and I don’t think I’ve seen the produce market that replaced it, but I’m sure it’s better. Wasn’t there another one nearby that sold exremely fresh salsa and ten pounds of potatoes for a dollar?

Counter example: When the Hyde Park Coop finally failed, the Mr. G’s location became the new home of the produce market, and a terrible grocery store got replaced by a good one.

The town where I grew up outside of Chicago only had Dominick’s. They had the best sugar cookies. And the crabbiest cashiers. I think they were each at least 150 years old.

I think Jewel-Osco was slated for the takeover. Are you saying that Dominick’s will takeover the Jewel-Osco that tookover Edmar, my grocery store of choice?
