In Phoenix, it is illegal to text while driving, although whether that’s a good use of a policeman’s time–scouring car windows and looking for texters–remains debatable.

They need to start selling cell phones with headphones, bundle the two products together and sell for a slightly lower price than if they were bought separately. I think that would be a more proactive solution, it’s either that or ban minivans/SUVs in all households with children still unable to drive.

The trend I’m seeing around Chicago (where driving while phoning is banned) is to activate speakerphone and hold it a few inches away from your ear. Makes me wonder if there’s some sort of “proximity to ear” clause in the law.
