
This installation is by Mia Pearlman. I landed on her diaphanous weather systems thanks to fruitslee. I can’t help but wonder if Brian Dettmer and Mia Pearlman are friends, or, what’s more likely, aware of each other’s existence. After all, their artwork is similar in theme: scalpel to paper. Although, it should be noted that in terms of art as recreation as opposed to creation, Mia’s material is “basic white drawing paper that comes on a big roll”, in other words, a very raw and basic material, minimally processed, while Brian’s is a fully-realized piece of art, namely, Gutenberg’s gift to us: the printed word.

Actually, Brian and I are in a show together right now: Cutters, at Hunter College in NYC and the Hunterdon Museum in NJ. I hope to meet him one day!
