The Baobab Tree

baobab tree painting

The baobab tree stands tall and broad in a yellow ocean of clay, a symbol of survival and hope in a world where all else is doomed to perish. The falling sun illuminates the sky, creating a deep orange glow and a series of varied silhouettes. The tree presents itself now as a deep black figure, its spindly branches reaching up towards the heavens. I am perplexed by the image before me – an image of such perfection that I am inclined to believe it has been ripped from a postcard or calendar.
