by Miss Clare (age 9)

Bryan Adams High School Hallway by Dean TerryBeep! Beep! Beep! Clare’s alarm clock went off. Clare got up, got dressed, ate breakfast, and bolted out the door.

“Hey Bayley!” said Clare.

“Hi Clare,” Bayley replied, unenthusiastically.

“You sound sad, what’s the matter?” asked Clare.

“Carley is going to make me move to a different locker, because she can’t fit all of her ‘stuff’ in her locker.

“What if we were popular?” asked Clare.

“NO WAY!” they both said at the same time.

The next day, Clare walked over to Bayley’s locker. But instead of Bayley, she found Carley there.

“Where’s Bayley?” asked Clare.

“Over there, where all the other non-popular kids are,” snarled Carley.

Clare walked over and finally found Bayley.

“Hey Bayley, I was thinking – when you said ‘what if we were popular’… what if we really were?” asked Clare.

“No!” exclaimed Bayley.

“Why not? I mean, we could actually be noticed!” insisted Clare.

“Well, I guess that would be nice… hmmm, okay!” decided Bayley.

“So, after school, we will go to the mall,” said Clare.

After school, the girls went straight to the mall and came home with almost 20 bags of clothes.  That night, Clare ended up sleeping over at Bayley’s house.

The next day, they were very excited about getting dressed. Clare wore a sparkly gold dress with white leggings, silver high heels, pink lipstick, and sunglasses. Bayley wore a jean mini-skirt with black leggings, a gold glittery shirt, silver flats, red lipstick, and sunglasses.

“Listen up, everyone! Clare and Bayley are now pretty, mean, and popular! So watch out!” said Eugene, the science geek.

“Listen up, we are the cool kids here, so if anyone from the non-popular side talks, touches, sneezes, coughs, bleeds, or anything else we do not like, you’re in BIG TROUBLE!”, warned Clare.

“Everyone out of our way!” shouted Bayley.

Everyone backed toward the lockers. Clare and Bayley walked through the aisle, pushing any kid that wasn’t smashed against the lockers out of the way.

In Science class, Alex, (the number one hottie in school, who usually sat by Clare and was always Bayley’s partner), stopped being Bayley’s partner and stopped sitting by Clare. He even stopped talking to them.

“Hey Bayley, did you notice that Alex wasn’t your partner and didn’t sit by me?” asked Clare.

“Yeah, I did,” said Bayley. “Do you think it’s because we’re popular now?” she asked.

“Maybe it is. Meet me at the park after school,” said Clare.

After school, they were both at the park discussing whether they should quit being popular or keep being popular.

“I think we should stop,” said Clare.

“Well, okay,” said Bayley. “But I will miss the outfits,” she said, looking down at her pink polka-dotted sleeveless dress and silver high heels.

So, the girls had a sleepover at Clare’s house that night.  The next day, they put on their jean capris, threw on an old t-shirt, pulled on their sneakers, grabbed a piece of toast, and bolted out the door for another normal day of school.

THE END?

YEAH, SO DEAL WITH IT!  ;)
